This work is made from copper wires of telephone cables. Nowadays, with fiber optics, satellite, broadband internet, along with other new communication technologies, cable phones are increasingly becoming obsolete. Kang Muxiang’s work is a commentary on this unstoppable trend. Kang’s copper wires are made to be the carriers of the human voice. The voices are interconnected and coiled together to create a beautiful and harmonious whole. Kang symbolizes the origins of life and life’s resiliency while encouraging viewers to harness a more ideal vision of the world – to stay hopeful, persistent, and to pursue it day after day. That is the strength that brings rubble back to life.
