Kang Muxiang

Kang was born in an aristocratic family of the third-generation of woodcarving art in Miaoli County in Taiwan, 1961. He started to learn traditional woodcarving since the age 13. In 1986 Kang established his own woodcarving studio in Sanyi, and became an international artist by exhibiting his creations in Beijing, Shanghai. There, Kang received Beijing Central TV and Shanghai Art Channel’s interviews. Now his works are admired and owned by Vatican Pope John Paul II, National Museum of Costa Rica, and Shanghai City Hall.

Kang’s works combine traditional craft with Mother Nature perfectly,
he uses the axe to show his unique “Wind Cutting & Flow Splitting”.

In 2002 he lived on Taiwan Turtle Island alone and created a series of pieces “Life”, for evoking people to protect our environment.
What he gives this world is a gift which everybody could understand!

Love and Mother Nature turn the suffering of my life into the joy of creation, that also gives me the strength to overcome the pain, brings me the perfect self-breakthrough.
